Rule diff
Know what changes before you deploy it.
Compare two filter lists by hostname and intent. See additions, removals, shared rules, and duplicates — even when the two files use different DNS formats.

What a diff can tell you
Review the change, not just the count.
DNS software can load a list that looks identical in size but blocks entirely different hosts. This comparison uses normalized hostnames and intent, so ||example.org^ in an AdGuard list and 0.0.0.0 example.org in a hosts file are recognized as the same block intent. Comments, spacing, letter case, and a trailing dot do not create false differences.
Invalid lines are excluded from the comparison and summarized below the result. Duplicates are listed separately because they rarely change the effective blocklist but often signal an import or merge problem. Open the full report to review every added, removed, and shared rule before replacing a working configuration.
A diff does not test the result on your network. Read the format guide to understand why the same hostname can have different subdomain behavior across DNS tools.
